Shading Solutions, Moving With the Sun

Whisper-quiet shades and drapery that balance daylight, privacy and comfort, timed to the sun and concealed in the architecture.

Shading solutions, from motorized roller shades to blinds, drapery tracks and outdoor awnings, are window treatments that move at a touch, on a schedule or with the sun, concealed in the architecture. For Los Angeles homes with walls of glass, automated window shades let the light in when you want it, soften it when you don't, and protect art, furnishings and privacy.

Motorized shades installation, indoors and out, quiet and out of sight.

Shades at a Touch

Raise, lower or adjust a single shade, or every window at once, from your phone, a keypad, a touch panel or your voice, in fabrics that run from soft sheers to full blackout.

Motorized Drapery

Drapery brings softness and grace to living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and media rooms. Hidden tracks and whisper-quiet motors move it smoothly, keeping the interior clean and uncluttered.

Timed to the Sun

Shades adjust through the day on their own, softening glare, protecting art and furnishings, preserving privacy and, in the heat of the afternoon, easing the work of the cooling. None of it asks for your attention.

Motorized Roller Shades

Clean, quiet roller shades in sheer to blackout fabrics, recessed into ceiling pockets or set within the window, moving together or one at a time.

Blinds & Drapery Tracks

Motorized blinds and hidden drapery tracks, planned with the interior designer, so every window treatment in the home opens and closes from the same touch.

Outdoor Shades & Awnings

Motorized shades and awnings extend the same control to terraces, loggias and pool decks, softening sun and glare outside and joining the scenes you already use indoors.

Automated window shades that change with the light.

    Morning

Shades rise gently with the sun, letting in soft light on your schedule.

  2. A bright white kitchen with roller shades over tall windows

    Midday

Quiet adjustments ease glare and UV, protecting art and furnishings from fading.

  3. A woman lounging by tall windows and sheer curtains at dusk, a fire burning low

    Evening

Drapery and shades close together for privacy, with one touch or a word, and the lighting settles with them.

  4. A modern glass house at dusk, lit from within

    Away

Scheduled movement keeps the home comfortable and looking lived-in while you are gone.

Privacy, shade and daylight, adjusted without lifting a finger.

Four considered steps, one team.

How it works with the rest of the home.

Every system in the home is designed with the others in mind. These are a few of the everyday moments where they meet.

Daylight and heat

As the sun moves across the glass, shades adjust on their own to soften glare, protect art and furnishings and keep the view, easing the work of the cooling. Lighting fills in only as much as the daylight needs.

Movie night

One preset transforms the room: the lights dim, the shades close, the screen descends and the sound comes alive. When the credits roll, one touch brings the room back.

Away

One touch as you leave arms every sensor, lowers the shades and eases the climate back. While you are gone, lights and shades keep a lived-in rhythm, and alerts follow you wherever you are.

Wired or battery-powered: which shades suit our home?

Both have their place. Wired shades never need their batteries changed, but running the wires means opening walls, so they are best planned into a new build or major renovation. Battery-powered shades can be added to a finished home without opening walls, which makes them well suited to an existing home.

Can we have sheer fabrics in some rooms and blackout in others?

Yes. Fabric is chosen room by room, as much a design decision as a practical one: sheers soften daylight while keeping the view, blackout suits bedrooms and media rooms, and translucent fabrics sit in between. It is worth choosing them alongside your interior designer, early in the project.

Will we hear the motors or see the hardware?

Very little of either. Motors are whisper-quiet and tracks are hidden, so shades and drapery move smoothly without disturbing the room, with no pull cords or bulky valances. The cleanest result comes from planning the concealment early, in step with your architect and designer.

Will automated window shades protect our art and help with the heat?

Yes. Scheduled to follow the sun, shades ease glare and UV through the day, protecting art and furnishings from fading. Lowered in the hottest hours, they also reduce heat gain and ease the load on the cooling, and with climate control on the same system, the two work together.

Which shade brands do you work with?

We design motorized shading with Lutron and Crestron, and it answers to the same system as your lighting, climate and entertainment, whether that is Lutron, Savant, Crestron or Control4. We recommend the platform that suits how you live, not the logo.
