Calibrated to the Room, Not the Showroom.

Picture and sound measured and tuned in your seat, on your screen, with your lights.

What a calibration visit looks like.

Home theater calibration happens in the finished room, with the seats, the screen and the lights it will be watched with.

  1. A dark home cinema with a lit screen, a row of seats and a projector in the ceiling

    Measure the room

The room is read from the seats: its size, its surfaces and how much light reaches the screen.

  2. A wide scope picture of a tree under clouds on the screen of a dark cinema, sofas below

    Set the picture

Brightness, contrast, grey scale and color are set on your own screen, for your projector or display.

  3. Deep recliners in a home cinema facing a wall of built-in speakers

    Time the speakers

Each speaker's distance and level is set, so every channel reaches the seat together.

  4. A tiered home cinema with lit steps, deep seats and a wide screen

    Balance to the seat

Sound is evened out at the main seat, then checked across the rows, so no seat is the wrong one.

  5. A private cinema lounge with a lit screen, deep armchairs and warm cove lighting

Save the scenes, day and night

The settings become presets for day and night, with the lights and shades in the same touch.

What we tune, and why.

  • Grey scale and gamma

Shadows keep their detail and whites stay white, from the darkest scene to the brightest.

  • Color to the reference

Color set to the standard the film was made to, so what you see is what the filmmaker intended.

  • Brightness for the room's own light

A picture set for the room as it is: blacked out, or with daylight at the edges.

  • Speaker distance and level

Every channel timed and levelled to the seat, so each sound lands where the film puts it.

  • Equalization to the seating

The room's own boom and echo evened out across the rows.

  • Scene presets for day and night

A daytime picture and a night picture, each one touch, with the lights and shades to match.

The questions buyers ask first.

Is calibration included in a home cinema installation?

Yes. Every cinema we install is tuned to its room: picture and sound are calibrated to reference standards in the seats, so what you see and hear is what the filmmaker intended.

What does professional calibration change?

Picture and sound stop being guesses. Grey scale, color and brightness are set for your screen and your room's light, each speaker is timed and levelled to the seat, and the result is saved to one touch with the lights and shades.

Can a finished room be calibrated again?

Yes. Professional Calibration is a Home Cinema service in its own right, so a finished room can be measured and tuned again, in its own seats and with its own lights. Whether yours needs it is a question for a complimentary consultation.
