Sound Across the Garden, Even and Unseen.

Outdoor audio systems laid out so every terrace, lawn and pool edge hears the same music at the same level.

A terrace, heard.

Where an outdoor speaker system lives on one terrace: speakers on the wall and in the planting, the low end in the ground, the amplifier indoors.

A desert-modern terrace at dusk, two slim speakers glowing on a stone wall either side of an outdoor screen, cacti and boulders in the foreground

Coastal Source Razor

Slim, weather-ready speakers either side of the screen, flush to the stone and under the eave.

Coastal Source bollard speakers

Bollards stand among the planting and carry the music out across the garden.

Coastal Source HS10 subwoofer

The low end for the terrace, set in the planting by the boulders, without a box in sight.

Coastal Source Pathfinder

A low speaker that sits quietly along the gravel walk, among the stones.

The amplifier, indoors

A Coastal Source CRS amplifier in the equipment rack drives every speaker outside.

How is an outdoor speaker system laid out?

Like the lighting: many small sources, each playing softly, so no corner of the garden is loud and none is quiet.

  1. Speakers spaced through the planting

Many small speakers, evenly spaced in the beds and along the terrace, rather than two loud ones by the door.

  2. The low end, from the ground

A subwoofer set low in the planting carries the bass, so the speakers above can stay small and quiet.

  3. One amplifier, a zone for each area

The terrace, the lawn and the pool each play at their own level, from one amplifier in the house.

  4. Weather-ready, end to end

Speakers, cable and connections chosen to live outside, through sun, rain and irrigation.

  5. The same keypad as the lights

Music outside answers to the keypad, your phone or your voice, like the landscape lighting.

From breakfast outside to the last song by the pool.

  1. A bronze bollard speaker among clipped planting and pebbles beside a slatted-timber house in early light

    Morning

Coffee on the terrace with a quiet playlist, set low for the first hour of the day.

  2. A daybed at the edge of a pool, a small speaker set into its timber base

    Afternoon

The pool comes up for swimming while the terrace by the house stays calm.

  3. A bollard speaker in coastal planting beside a timber walk leading to the water

    Dinner

Music settles beneath the conversation, as even at one end of the table as at the other.

  4. A modern house at dusk, its terrace and pool lit, slim speakers glowing softly on the walls

    Night

One last song by the pool, then the garden falls quiet with the lights.

How is the sound kept even across the garden?

Landscape speakers and subwoofers are placed for even coverage across the lawns, terraces and pool deck, so the music is balanced wherever you are standing. It is played by area, at the right level for each space, rather than from one loud corner.

Will we see the speakers?

Hardly. Outdoor speakers are designed to disappear into the planting and the architecture: slim, weather-ready speakers sit flush against a wall or column, and others are set into the beds among the planting.
